Fargo Season 4 Cast Imdb

List of episodesThe fourth season of Fargo, an American anthology black comedy–crime drama television series created by Noah Hawley, premiered on September 27, 2020, on FX and concluded on November 29, 2020. The season was originally scheduled to premiere on April 19, 2020, but this was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fourth season is set in November 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri and follows two crime syndicates as they vie for control.

The cast is led by Chris Rock, who plays Loy Cannon, the head of a crime syndicate made up of black migrants fleeing the Jim Crow South who have a contentious relationship with a fictionalized portrayal of the Kansas City mafia. Other cast members include Jessie Buckley, Jason Schwartzman, Ben Whishaw, and Jack Huston. Not a direct sequel to the movie, the show instead drew stylistic and thematic inspiration from the film and other Coen Brothers works, and went on to be critically acclaimed itself, snaring 18 Emmy nominations.

Seasons 2 and 3 also garnered critical acclaim while exploring different time frames and characters (but still with that same Coens-inspired spirit), leading FX to renew the show for a fourth season. Chris Rock is set to head up the season 4 cast along with Jessie Buckley, Uzo Abuda, Ben Whishaw, Jack Huston, Amber Midthunder and Jason Schwartzman. Fargo Season 4 is coming out on Sunday nights on FX, after a three-year delay since the last set of episodes. For this next story in the anthology series, we are in 1950s Kansas City, with a cast led by Chris Rock in a rare dramatic role as an organized crime boss trying to prevent a mob war. Starring alongside him are actors including Jessie Buckley, Jason Schwartzman and Timothy Oliphant alongside a few less well-known names. Fargo Season 4, created by Noah Hawley is an American back-comedy drama anthology TV series.

The show gets its inspiration from the eponymous 1996 film. Each season has a different story, with new characters. It has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.9 rating on IMDb. You will see references of Greek Mythology, folk tales, and Bible. Five months since it was originally scheduled to debut, the highly anticipated new season of FX's Coen-inspired anthology series is finally here. Fargo Season 4's sprawling cast of movie stars, TV icons, and indie rockers had to reassemble six months after filming was shut down in March in order to complete the season's final two episodes.

And now viewers will get to delight in the latest star-studded, blackly comic crime saga from the mind of creator Noah Hawley. In season four of Noah Hawley's crime anthology series Fargo, Chris Rock plays Loy Cannon, a gang boss in 1950s Kansas City. Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant has joined the cast of Fargo season 4 in a key role.

This Irish actress is arguably one of Hollywood's hottest rising stars. She first made a splash with her feature film debut in the 2017 indie horror film Beast, which she followed up with an acclaimed performance in the 2018 musical drama Wild Rose. Her other credits include a role in the 2019 Oscar-winning biopic Judy and a memorable turn in HBO's Chernobyl. Most recently, she was seen experiencing the family dinner from hell in Netflix's recent psychological thriller I'm Thinking Of Ending Things — in which she shared the screen with Fargo Season 2 star Jesse Plemons and Fargo Season 3 star David Thewlis. In Fargo Season 4, Buckley portrays murderous nurse Oraetta Mayflower, whom Vulture's Matt Zoller Seitz compares to another Coen Bros. villain, No Country For Old Men's terrifying Anton Chigurh. Asbille plays the machete-wielding Mikayla, daughter of the royal adviser and love interest to twin Brady.

The show only ran for three seasons from 2010 to 2013, though multiple members of the cast have expressed interest in bringing it back for a movie. Its silliness is a far cry from Asbille's more recent roles, but maybe that would make it a pleasant respite from the violence and drama she's entrenched in now. On Fargo, Asbille plays the Native American lesbian outlaw Swanee Capps, who recently broke out of jail with her partner in both crime and love, Zelmare Roulette .

This isn't the first time Asbille has been cast in a Native American role, which has garnered controversy in the past. Asbille has said that she's of Chinese, English, and Cherokee descent, though the Eastern Band of Cherokee has stated that she's not enrolled with them and they have no evidence to support her heritage claim. The new season tells the story of Loy Cannon , the head of a crime syndicate made up of black migrants. And it's yet another Fargo scene in which a major character cannot enter a room and state what he wants or attempt to accomplish a goal through direct or indirect means without first forcing an audience to sit through a tedious monologue. There are barely any actual conversations to be heard here, only florid anecdotes followed by a character either asking if the listener understood the subtext or preemptively relating the moral.

The fourth season was announced in August 2018 and it was confirmed that Chris Rock was cast in the lead role. In July 2019, 12 actors were announced to have been cast, including Francesco Acquaroli, Andrew Bird, Jessie Buckley, Salvatore Esposito, Jeremie Harris, Jack Huston, Amber Midthunder, Jason Schwartzman, and Ben Whishaw. Midthunder ultimately did not appear and her role was recast with Kelsey Asbille for undisclosed reasons. In September 2019, it was announced that Uzo Aduba had been cast in the role of Zelmare Roulette, however, Aduba had to drop out of the role due to "some personal family issues". The role was recast with Karen Aldridge in December. With East and West, I could tell Noah Hawley had finally found his groove with this season, which has been, at best, a bit middling - nothing spectacular.

These last three episodes show that this season is on par, sits with the rest. I mean, Gaetano, com'on, that's some wholly incredible script writing. There have been a lot of big plays this season, and, in conjunction with the other seasons, it's all starting to add up. I sincerely hope there is one final season to concrete the overall arc of the series, to make it all wrap up into one unified thing.

This season is at least setting the premise for the north-midwest criminal enterprise (we even have Mike Milligan!) so, I think there's hope. Even if this season didn't start out as strong as the last fee seasons, it's come to be just as enjoyable, I sincerely hope it isn't the last. Kelsey Asbille's first onscreen role was Gigi Silveri on the teen drama One Tree Hill, which centers on the lives of basketball rivals and half-brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott . Much of the series revolves around the romantic drama ensuing among the cast of characters, including Asbille's Gigi.

One of Absille's earliest roles was on the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The series follows preteen twins Zack and Cody on their myriad adventures that arise from living in a fancy hotel. Asbille plays Zack's love interest and study partner Dakota in the season 3 episode "Romancing the Phone."

As we noted last year, this season marks the biggest time jump for the series so far, as seasons one through three took place in 2006, 1979, and 2010, respectively. A press release notes that Hawley will direct the first episode with a return in 2020. Bird will be right at home as production takes place this Fall in Chicago.

According to IMDb, this isn't the musician's first on-screen role as he previously played himself in an episode of The Path, and also starred in Jack's Big Music Show back in 2007. He's also no stranger to FX, having scored their underrated series Baskets. FX has announced the full cast for the fourth season of Fargo. As previously reported, the next chapter sees the return of showrunner Noah Hawley who will take the series back to the '50s with Chris Rock at the helm.

As reported by Deadline, that already impressive cast has now added one more star in Timothy Olyphant, who is set to play a character with the very Fargo-esque name Dick "Deafy" Wickware. Further details of Olyphant's role are not available but it's said to be a major recurring character. Season 1-3 are great and then comes the big disappointment that is Season 4. This season is a big departure both in terms of story telling and acting from the previous seasons.

Feels more like some ideas thrown together without much structure. E'myri Crutchfield is probably the only good actress here. I am reviewing from a different perspective since I just watched Season 4 and not 1-3. Although, very violent, I enjoyed the talented actors and large cast. The story line kept me interested with some comical moments along with the intense crime stories.

The Illinois-born singer and violinist released his first album, Music of Hair, in 1996 and has released over a dozen more albums and EPs in the years since, both as a solo artist and as a member of various ensembles like the Squirrel Nut Zippers. His most recent album, My Finest Work Yet, was released in March of last year. If you enjoyed Fargo creator Noah Hawley's work on his other acclaimed FX series Legion, then you'll recognize Jeremie Harris, who plays Leon Bittle, a member of Loy Cannon's gang. Harris re-teams with Hawley after working with him on that Marvel Comics-inspired project, on which he played Ptonomy Wallace, a mutant with the power to take people inside their own memories.

Harris has also played Langston Hughes in the HBO film Bessie, and had a recurring role on Netflix's The Get Down. Like Whishaw, Huston — who portrays corrupt cop Odis Weff — is another actor whose face you might not recognize even if you've seen his work. That's because his most famous role is as disfigured assassin Richard Harrow on HBO's Boardwalk Empire, a part which required Huston to cover half of his face in a creepy porcelain mask.

This isn't Huston's first time acting in a Coen Bros.-adjacent property, having appeared in the directors' 2016 film Hail, Caesar! His other film credits include American Hustle, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the remake of Ben-Hur, and last year's The Irishman. He can currently be seen in the controversial horror film Antebellum.

Fans of Timothy Olyphant's work should feel right at home watching him on Fargo Season 4, seeing as how it's the actor's third time playing a U.S. Marshal, following his star-making performances as Seth Bullock on HBO's Deadwood and Raylan Givens on FX's Justified. How does Dick "Deafy" Wickware differ from those two memorable characters?

Olyphant's other TV work includes starring roles on Damages and Santa Clarita Diet, and his film credits include Scream 2, Live Free Or Die Hard, and last year's Oscar-winning Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood. Next, he'll appear in The Mandalorian Season 2 as a mysterious new character named Cobb Vanth. Gigi makes her first appearance in season 3 as a new sports announcer for the high school games. She becomes a love interest for fellow announcer Marvin "Mouth" McFadden , though the transition to college eventually breaks them up.

She reappears in season 6 and attempts to break up Mouth and his girlfriend Millicent "Millie" Huxtable . Asbille appeared in a total of 18 episodes over the course of four seasons. While it was only her second onscreen role, she was mentored on set by Jaden's legendary dad, Will Smith, she told W Magazine. It's perhaps a surprising origin story for the actress who's gone on to star in such heavy dramas, but it certainly shows her enthusiasm and willingness to play a variety of roles.

Asbille plays mother and teacher Monica Dutton, the young Native American wife of Kayce Dutton. Their relationship is reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, due to the friction between the wider Dutton family and the nearby Native Americans. Control of Kansas City is the key to the opening exchanges in season 4 as several crime families and syndicates vie for power, with the Italian Fadda family eventually coming out on top. Fargo season 4 is set in Kansas City, Missouri and the story primarily takes place in the 1950s. In related news, Rock will soon begin production on the next Saw movie also due for release next year.

In other words, everybody will love Chris come 2020. The prior 3 seasons of the show have all featured strong casts, and season 4 definitely continues that tradition, with Olyphant adding even more talent to an ensemble that was already very impressive indeed. Deadwood and Justified star Timothy Olyphant joins the already loaded cast of Noah Hawley's Fargo season 4 in the key role of Dick "Deafy" Wickware.

The American actor from New Orleans, Louisiana, began taking acting classes at the age of eight. In 2014, she was among a small group selected from thousands to attend the Nickelodeon Groundling Sketch Comedy training in Los Angeles. Crutchfield made her prime-time television debut in 2016 as the teenager Kizzy in the series, 'Roots'. Her work was nominated for a 2017 NAACP image award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie or Limited-series). Her acting credits include 'The Kicks', 'True Detective', 'Tell Me Your Secrets', 'Burning Cane', and more.

In a career that spans nearly 60 years, Turman has played roles in several films and television shows like 'J. D.'s Revenge', 'Burlesque', 'Super 8', 'Gremlins', ' Bumblebee', 'Ceremonies in Dark Old Men', 'Big Apple', 'House of Lies', and more. The American actor has previously worked with showrunner Hawley on a different but equally critically acclaimed show -- 'Legion', Where he played the role of Ptonomy Wallace.

His other acting credits include films and television shows like 'The Angriest Man in Brooklyn', 'Bushwick', 'Love Beats Rhymes', 'The Get Down', and more. The 54-year-old American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director is undoubtedly one of America's most-loved comics. A cast member of 'Saturday Night Live' in the early 1990s, Rock has made a name for himself with comedy films like 'Beverly Hills Cop II', 'Dr. Dolittle', 'Osmosis Jones', the 'Madagascar' series, 'The Longest Yard', and 'Death at a Funeral'. Sat down with great expectation to another season of Fargo after long wait. Unfortunately watched the first 2 episodes and it was truly dreadful, awful.

Terrible sound quality, boring and uninteresting plot and characters. Also with the exception of Rock, the entire show seems poorly miscast. Some of the worst performances seen on the series in a long time are seen here from Salvatore Esposito and Karen Aldridge. The first two seasons were some of the best in television. This is a far fall from grace that should've had an entirely different title.

A series gets an Average Tomatometer when at least 50 percent of its seasons have a score. The Average Tomatometer is the sum of all season scores divided by the number of seasons with a Tomatometer. The dialogue is dry and the character interactions excruciatingly painful at times.

Characters are one sided and the lackluster acting performances don't help to hide that fact. The sets, costumes, cinematography and overall production quality kept me engaged. That, and my hope that the season would somehow improve as it went along. I am probably the biggest fan of Fargo there is and was so ready to love Season 4. The characters are cartoonish and the writers are pushing an agenda instead of just letting the show be what it always is - an expose of the ugly underbelly of humanity presented as a friendly façade. Still mad we all were cheated of a quality Season 4.

Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody Album

Never Enough is one of the best love songs from a modern musical, released in 2017 on the movie soundtrack for The Greatest Showman. The soundtrack reached number one on the UK charts and stayed there for eleven weeks. The Beatles broke records in nearly every aspect of music history, including writing one of the steamiest love songs ever released in the 1960s.

Critics and Beatles fans alike acknowledge that this is the best love song by the Beatles, despite the fact that Harrison's songwriting skills were typically overshadowed by those of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Their recording immediately reached number 1 in the UK, selling 314,000 copies in its first week, at that time the fastest-selling debut single in UK chart history. It became the best selling single of 1995, and one of the country's all-time biggest-selling singles (No. 9 in November 2012), with 1.87 million copies sold. The self-titled album they released later in the year also became the best-selling album of 1995.

Although the duo decided to quit the following year, they would eventually sell 7 million copies of albums and 5 million copies of the 3 singles released. Simon Cowell, who before this was known largely as a creator of novelty records with television characters such as the puppets Zig and Zag and action characters Power Rangers, then came to the attention of the media for his ability to create hit records. This beautiful love song was both written and performed by Peter Gabriel, famously inspired by his then live-in love, American actress Rosanna Arquette—also rumored to be the subject of the song, Rosanna, by Toto. Arquette reportedly convinced Gabriel to allow the movie, Say Anything to use In Your Eyes in the game-changing romantic scene. In the end, the song's presence in both the movie and the movie trailer lifted it from a little-known release to iconic status as one of the best love songs of all time.

Two different versions of the song were released to coincide with the movie's release; an orchestral version and one with the lyrics performed by Al Hibbler. Hibbler's version of the song hit the number one position on the R&B charts in 1955, as did a version by Roy Hamilton. Another version from June Valli reached the #29 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles list in May 1955. Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers is one of the best love songs of all time. This song was written by Alex North and Hy Zaret and first performed by African American opera singer, Todd Duncan, for a now little-known film called Unchained. But when The Righteous Brothers performed the song in 1955, it skyrocketed to the top of the charts.

Felton JarvisElvis Presley singles chronology"My Way""Unchained Melody"" Teddy Bear"On June 21, 1977, Elvis Presley performed the song at a show in Rapid City, South Dakota. The performance, described as "the last great moment of his career", was recorded for his last television special two months before his death in August 1977. A single, based on this recording, was released in March 1978 by RCA Records with "Softly, As I Leave You" as the b-side. The song reached No. 6 in the country charts of both the US and Canada, and was certified Gold by Music Canada on July 10, 1986. Bruce Springsteen is an American music icon so it's no surprise that one of the best love songs of the last century comes from this master singer/songwriter. Springsteen released Secret Garden originally in 1995 on his Greatest Hits album, peaking at the number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

When it was re-released two years later and featured in the movie Jerry Maguire, the song returned to the charts, landing at number 19. The best love songs bend genres to touch the hearts of fans of all kinds of music. Love is a universal language and no one knew that more than Kenny Rogers. His love song, Lady, topped multiple charts including Top Soul Singles, Country, and 6 weeks as number one on Billboard's Hot 100. "Unchained Melody" received an Oscar nomination, losing out to "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" from the movie of the same name. In addition to presenting Duncan's original recording from Unchained, the new anthology includes many of the song's earliest covers.

Les Baxter's choral rendition on Capitol hit No. 2 on the U.S. pop chart, and not long after, Al Hibbler's vocal version reached No. 3. Mining the soulful potential of the North melody, Roy Hamilton took it to No. 1 R&B as well as No. 6 Pop. Other early versions here are from rockabilly trailblazer Gene Vincent, vocalist Harry Belafonte , and country legends Eddy Arnold and Chet Atkins. Lady was a collaboration between Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie, written by Richie exclusively for Kenny Rogers to include on his Greatest Hits Album.

Rogers wanted a love song written by an R&B master of songwriting for romance but written for a country singer. He believed that the result would cross charts and make it into a pop hit as well as a country one. Later in a relationship, the predominant hormone released when we're around our loved one is oxytocin — sometimes called the cuddle hormone, because of the warm, safe, fuzzy feeling it evokes.

Where the 2004 version of the list was dominated by early rock and soul, the new edition contains more hip-hop, modern country, indie rock, Latin pop, reggae, and R&B. More than half the songs here — 254 in all — weren't present on the old list, including a third of the Top 100. The result is a more expansive, inclusive vision of pop, music that keeps rewriting its history with every beat. However, it was the July 1965 version byThe Righteous Brothersthat became ajukeboxstandard for the late 20th century, achieving a second round of great popularity when it was featured in the 1990 blockbuster filmGhost. "Unchained Melody" was the only song to have reached No. 1 in the UK in four different recordings on the official chart until it was joined by the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in its fourth re-recording in 2014.

It is the only song to have sold over a million by three separate acts in the UK – Robson and Jerome (1.87 million), Gareth Gates (1.35 million), the Righteous Brothers (1.17 million). The song has been number 1 on lists of love songs featured on the United Kingdom's Channel 4 and Five. Gates' version of "Unchained Melody" became one of the fastest-selling singles in the UK, selling around 328,000 copies in the first day of release. It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release with sales of 850,000 copies, and stayed at the top of the chart for four weeks. It became the second best-selling song in the UK in 2002, as well as that of the decade of 2000s, after the single by the winner Will Young. Their performance triggered a strong response from the audience who attempted to find a recording of the song that was then unavailable.

Simon Cowell was alerted to the interest shown by the public, and pursued the two reluctant actors for the next four months to record the song, to the extent that Robson Green threatened legal action to stop Cowell harassing them. The actors were eventually persuaded to sign a recording contract with Cowell and record a Righteous Brothers-type version of the song as a duo. It was later revealed by Stock that the vocals were "assisted" and parts of the song were sung by other session singers. It was released as a double A-sided single with "White Cliffs of Dover", a popular song during World War II, included in recognition of the 50th anniversary of VE day, the date of the single release. The video released for "Unchained Melody" also incorporated clips from the 1945 film Brief Encounter.

The 1965 original Righteous Brothers recording was reissued in 1990 by oldies-reissue label Verve Forecast under licensing from Polygram Records . The original version received a lot of airplay, and topped the U.S. adult contemporary chart for two weeks in 1990. However, sales for this version were minimal in the US since it was only available as a 45 RPM single and the song peaked at No. 13 based largely on airplay.

For eight weeks, both versions were on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously and the Righteous Brothers became the first act to have two versions of the same song in the Top 20 at the same time. This re-released song reached number 1 in the UK where it stayed for four weeks, becoming the UK's top selling single of 1990. The 1990 reissue also reached number 1 in Australia, Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. "Unchained Melody" reappeared on the US Billboard charts in 1990 after The Righteous Brothers' recording was used in the box office blockbuster film Ghost. Two versions charted in the US that year – the original and a new recording. According to Medley, he was interested in having the original recording released due to the renewed interest in the song, but was told that there were licensing issues.

Although Hatfield's voice was no longer as good as when he first recorded the song, they decided to re-record it for Curb Records. The re-recorded version was released as both a cassette single and a CD single. The re-recorded version was certified Platinum by the RIAA on January 10, 1991, and received a Grammy Award nomination. Hy Zaret"Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret.

North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film Unchained , hence the song title. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers in July 1965. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages. Whether it's a soft, whispery love song to draw a couple close together to sway on a dance floor or an anthem-style rock ballad to make a crowd jump to their feet to sing along, nothing plumbs our depths of emotion like some of the best love songs of all time. Angel Eyes was written by John Hiatt and Fred Koller, released on The Jeff Healey Band's first album, See the Light," the title yet another touching reminder of Jeff Healey's blindness.

Healey died of cancer in 2008, but this song lives on as one of the best love songs to come out of the 1980s. His music lives on, and this song still touches romantic hearts today. Something is one of the best love songs covered by other hugely popular performers, including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. Sinatra called it the best love song ever written before he realized that Harrison wrote the ballad, not Lennon or McCartney.

Paul McCartney famously credited the song as the best song on the Abbey Road Album. In 1995, the song was performed byRobson GreenandJerome Flynnin the UK drama seriesSoldier Soldier. They subsequently released a Righteous Brothers-type version as a single, which quickly reached #1 in the UK, becoming one of the country's all time biggest-selling records, and has sold 1.86 million copies as of November 2012. "Unchained Melody" reappeared on the Billboard charts in 1990 after The Righteous Brothers' recording was used in the box office blockbuster filmGhost. There was the reissue of the 1965 original Righteous Brothers single which received a lot of airplay, but sales were minimal since it was only available as a 45 RPM single. This version peaked at #13. There was also a 1990 re-recording of the song which was available only as a cassette single.

It reached #1 for the fifth time in the UK, becoming the UK's top selling single of 1990, and has since sold 1.04 million copies. It also reached #1 inAustralia, staying atnumber-onefor seven weeks through November 1990 and into January 1991. The song was nominated in 1956 for 1955's Oscar for best original song from the film Unchained. The re-recorded version by The Righteous Brothers was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1991 in the best pop performance by a duo or group category, and their original version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000. The use of the Righteous Brothers' cover of "Unchained Melody" in the film Ghost resurrected the song's popularity as it was recognized as the "most played" song of 1992 by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers .

ASCAP also announced it to be one of the 25 most-performed songs and musical works of the 20th century in 1999, and the most-performed love song of the 1950s in 2003. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained . North composed and recorded the score and then was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody." Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained".

Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. The song has an unusual harmonic device as the bridge ends on the tonic chord rather than the more usual dominant chord. A Thousand Years catches the ear and with gorgeous, sweeping music at the bridge as well as uniquely paced vocals sung in Perri's signature sweet, halting voice.

The result is a deeply emotional and compelling song that transports the listener with an up and down rhythm of highs and lows that's very much like the experience of love itself. With lyrics like, "I have died every day waiting for you," and "All along I believed I would find you…" this is one of the best love songs for any couple to celebrate the joy of finding each other against all odds. You can tell when a song is destined to be one of the best love songs of all time by how often it's chosen as a wedding song. Since its second release in 2013, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri has made it to the top of the list of wedding song favorites. Not only is it a hugely popular choice for a first dance song at receptions, but the song's gentle pace and repeating, rhythmic tempo make it an ideal song to accompany the bride and wedding party down the aisle. The 1980s was the decade of power ballads, as even the roughest of rock bands showed off a tender side with love anthems crossing over genres to land on top of the charts.

One of the best love songs of all time came from the iconic '80s band credited with beginning the ballad craze, the '80s idol band, Journey. The song saw a massive resurgence in popularity again in 1990 when it was used as the love theme in the movie Ghost, featuring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. The Righteous Brothers wanted to re-release the song because of the renewed interest caused by the movie. Due to licensing issues, The Righteous Brothers were forced to record a new version of the song, this time on Curb records. Both the original version and the re-recorded version actually appeared on The Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, making The Rigteous Brothers the very first group to have two versions of the same song charting in the top 20 at the same time.

This compilation from The Righteous Brothers kicks off with two of their biggest hits, the title track and You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', which was included at number 34 on the Rolling Stone list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Unchained Melody received renewed attention in 1990 when it was used in a pivotal scene in the movie Ghost, spurring the release of this greatest hits collection. Elvis Presleyperformed "Unchained Melody" on April 24, 1977 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the recording of which was included on theMoody Bluealbum . On June 21, just six weeks before his death, he performed "Unchained Melody" in Rapid City, S.D. For what would be his last television appearance, "Elvis In Concert"; ultimately, the song was not included on the October 3 broadcast and this version would be released the following year as a single. Both versions featured him on piano, as was invariably the case when Presley sang the song in concert.

The best known version of "Unchained Melody" was recorded by The Righteous Brothers and produced byPhil Spectorin 1965 as the 'B' side of the single featuring the song, "Hung On You". Although the version was credited to The Righteous Brothers, it was actually performed as a solo by Righteous BrotherBobby Hatfield, who later recorded other versions credited solely to him. This recording climbed to #4 on theBillboard Hot 100chart in 1965 and reached #14 in the UK in 1965.

"Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music byAlex Northand lyrics byHy Zaret. His cover became one of the fastest-selling singles in the UK, selling 328,000 copies in the first day of release. It reached number one, with sales of 850,000 copies in its first week.

It became the second best-selling song in the UK in 2002, as well as that of the decade, after Will's single 'Evergreen'. Not surprisingly, the pace is picking up for the singer, who lives in Newport Beach with his wife and their two children. He recently cut a note-for-note replica of "Unchained Melody" that has just been released as a single by Curb Records.

The idea is to offer radio stations and record buyers a single version of a song that currently is only available on album. English singer-songwriter Gareth Gates first performed "Unchained Melody" as a contestant in the quarter-final of the first series of the UK singing competition television show Pop Idol, which included Simon Cowell as one of the judges. Gates reprised the song in the final as his personal choice, but the competition was won by Will Young. Gates was signed by Cowell, and as the runner-up, Gates released the song as his first single three weeks after the winner had released his single, the double A-sided "Anything Is Possible" / "Evergreen". Gates' cover of "Unchained Melody" was released together with his versions of the same two songs released by Young, which Gates had also performed in the final. To clarify, before there was streaming music services and befor CDs music was sold on vinyl as a 2 sided disc.

When you purchase a hit single, it was on the A-side of the record and the B-side was usually the instrumental of that song or some song that was deemed unworthy to be included on the album or some song not related to the project at all. Combining soul-stirring music and powerful words has been a means of expressing love for thousands of years. Love is the main subject of songs in nearly all genres and love songs have evolved along with human history to reflect the changing experience of falling in love over the centuries. Of all music genres, the best love songs make magic in our hearts and minds by stirring up our most heartfelt and impassioned emotions.

Whether we've experienced the potent mix of sensations involved in falling in love or we long to do so, these songs reach down into that mysterious place inside our hearts and pluck at our emotions like guitar strings, moving in time to the music. They send our souls soaring like the powerful singing voices, and run tingles up and down our spines like piano scales. One of the most instantly recognizable romantic "ahhh" moments is the iconic movie scene from 1989's film, Say Anything, when John Cusak holds a large boombox over his head belting out Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes as a serenade to the young love of his life. In Your Eyes went on to become one of the best love songs with a cult-like following despite never making it into Billboard's top forty, but instead stalling at number 41. To this day, the version recorded by The Righteous Brothers remains the most popular and well-known version of the beloved love song.

The song regained popularity during the Vietnam War when it perfectly reflected the separation experienced by many couples as young men went off to a foreign war. Faithfully was another love song hit by a band already credited with the chart-topping and heartstoppingly romantic songs, Who's Crying Now, and Open Arms. While both are fantastic songs, Faithfully went on to become one of the band's most instantly recognizable tunes and is still one of the most frequently played songs at weddings and proms decades—and a millennium—later.
